There are now less than three days left in January, which means the announcement of the DCU’s first wave of projects among the newly installed James Gunn and Peter Safran’s regime will be announced shortly.

Obviously, the filmmaker has faced a barrage of demands to reveal the upcoming roster since the start of 2023, but even the most impatient franchise fans will surely breathe a sigh of relief knowing that there’s less than 72 hours until we find out what comes down the pipeline.

That being said, sleuths may have derived at least one title looming on the horizon, and in a fitting bit of online bonanza, it all comes from a picture of a cat. The internet has been defined by its users’ love of sharing snaps of their feline friends, so it’s quite fitting that Gunn might accidentally let you know what’s out of the bag while showcasing his mustachioed companion.

Of course, there have long been rumors that Viola Davis’ Amanda Waller will be headlining her own HBO Max spinoff series, which exists as part of peacemaker‘s corner of the DCU, so it wouldn’t be too much of a shock if it was one of the forthcoming announcements.

Then again, there are some people who are already reading too much into it and claiming it was an intentional misdirection on Gunn’s part, but the good news is we won’t have to wait long before we find out where the truth lies.
