Jason Statham’s new action film is John Wick With Bees

Jason Statham is the latest action star to venture into John Wick territory as the next film starring The Expendables and Transporter cast will see him take on society’s biggest monsters: Internet phishing scammers, who target vulnerabilities with malware. The catch is that Statham is not only a disgruntled beekeeper who targets online scammers, but also a former employee of a powerful and secret organization called the Beekeepers, which maintains a kind of social balance.
“I protect the hive. When the system gets out of balance, I correct it,” Statham says in the trailer, which contains plenty of demolition, destruction and dismemberment. Things quickly escalate beyond his initial vendetta, and it’s not long before Statham’s character – referred to as Mr. Clay in the trailer – implicates the US government in his vendetta.
“The Beekeeper” is directed by David Ayer (“Fury” and “Suicide Squad”). The film also stars Emmy Raver-Lampman, Josh Hutcherson, Bobby Naderi, Minnie Driver, Phylicia Rashad and Jeremy Irons. The film will be released in theaters on January 12, 2024. Statham has been busy in recent years with his recent film appearances in Fast X, Meg 2: The Trench and The Expendables 4.
Another action film to keep an eye on that shares a similar theme to The Beekeeper is Silent Night, which features Suicide Squad’s Joel Kinnaman on a separate quest for revenge and is directed by John Woo. What’s special about this film is that Kinnaman’s character is shot in the throat at the beginning of the film, letting his violent actions speak for themselves.
