Jio AirFiber India Launch Date Set for September 19; Jio 5G to cover entire country by December: details

Reliance Jio AirFiber will be launched on Ganesh Chaturthi on September 19, RIL Chairman Mukesh Ambani said at Reliance Industries’ 46th Annual General Meeting. Jio’s 5G services are “on track” to cover the entire country with the ultra-high-speed network by December this year, Ambani said Monday.

The Jio customer base has passed the 450 million mark. Its 5G network covers 96 percent of cities and the company is on track to cover the entire country by December.

“Jio’s total subscriber base has now surpassed 450 million subscribers, reflecting revenue growth of over 20 percent year-on-year,” he said.

Data consumption per user on the Jio network has skyrocketed, with the average user now consuming over 25GB each month.

Ambani said that Jio was founded seven years ago with the aim of transforming India into a leading digital society, adding: “We have put our hearts and souls into building a digital public infrastructure for the whole world to admire begins.” Jio was the main catalyst of New India’s spectacular digital transformation, he claimed.

“Now our ambitions are even higher – and they go beyond the shores of India, as I will explain. First, let’s talk about Jio True 5G, our breakthrough 5G broadband offering. We started rolling out 5G last October. In just nine months, Jio “5G is already in over 96 percent of our nation’s census cities,” Ambani said.

Jio is on track to cover the entire country by December this year.

With over 50 million 5G customers, Jio is already at the forefront of 5G rollout in India, Ambani said.

“And we are the only company capable of seamlessly transitioning our entire 4G customer base to 5G with minimal additional capital expenditure. With the increasing adoption of Jio 5G, we are also seeing an increasing trend towards postpaid carriers with high ARPU. “Customers are choosing Jio as their network of choice,” Ambani said.
