The Bachelorette The 2022 finale didn’t address all of the drama that has occurred this season. The final episode featured Rachel and Tino’s dramatic breakup and text messages leaked from one of Erich Schwer’s ex-girlfriends. However, the finale did not address the controversy surrounding an old photo of Erich in blackface. Kaitlyn Bristowe recently shared her feelings on the matter.

The “Bachelorette” finale in 2022 did not respond to Erich’s blackface photo
The Bachelorette The 2022 finale included the live special After the Final Rose, which saw Jesse Palmer sit down with Rachel, Gabby, and their past contestants. The live special addressed Rachel and Tino’s messy breakup, during which Tino admitted cheating on Rachel by kissing another girl.
Next, Erich and Gabby sat on the stage. Jesse brought up Erich’s ex-girlfriend’s recent statement saying he broke up with her to go on the show, as well as text messages she leaked. However, none of them spoke about the blackface controversy surrounding Erich.
Recently, a high school yearbook photo resurfaced of Erich in blackface as Jimi Hendrix. Although Erich apologized for the photo on his Instagram, the show did not address it.
Kaitlyn Bristowe urged the show to ignore the blackface controversy
Some fans of The Bachelorette reacted with outrage that the finale did not address the controversy surrounding Erich’s photo. Former Bachelorette Kaitlyn Bristowe also shared her thoughts on Instagram.
“The show, Erich and Gabby had a real opportunity to use their voice and acknowledge blackface. I don’t think we had to read messages from his ex or build a fake mansion for Zach. I think we needed to move on and show up with so many viewers,” she wrote.
“Michelle, myself and Becca all felt like this was going to be addressed,” she continued. “It wasn’t, and that’s not okay. Am I happy that you are happy? 10000%. I’m always looking for love. I hope we hear more from them about it.”
At the end of her post, Kaitlyn added, “This show has given me so much. I’m so grateful, but I still want to hold people accountable. Please, Bachelor Nation, listen to voices that need to be heard. That deserves to be heard.”
“I don’t want to speak for Michelle [Young], but I know she’s committed to taking the lead with promises of change,” Kaitlyn continued. “To run over blackface and pretend we don’t have time? What message does that send? Hasn’t Rachel Lindsay already shown us how important this is?”
The Bachelor franchise has been criticized for a lack of diversity
The Bachelorette and The bachelor continue to be criticized for a lack of diversity in their lead selection. Kaitlyn seemed to hint at it in the rest of her post, discussing the latest pick for the Bachelor – Zach Shallcross.
“Zach is absolutely wonderful and sweet and kind. I want him to find love too. I just think they had so many options for the bachelor’s and should let the voting system decide who America wanted. She wrote. “With that in mind, I already have sympathy for Zach as I know this will be extremely overwhelming for him and will always be here if he needs my help.”
The Bachelorette The season 19 finale is currently streaming on Hulu.
