Kanye West shockingly nominated for NAACP Image Awards despite anti-Semitic tirades
With the ongoing awards season, the nominations for the 54th NAACP Image Awards have been announced. Though he absolutely set his reputation on fire in the second half of 2022, KanyeWest somehow managed to secure a nomination. Notably, his collaboration with Alicia Keys and Fivio Foreign, City of Gods, was nominated in the Best Hip-Hop Song category.
Without discounting the contributions of Alicia Keys and Fivio Foreign to the joint effort, it’s safe to say that West’s recent behavior doesn’t particularly reflect the NAACP’s mission to make the world a better place for black people.
Alicia Keys celebrated the nomination on Twitter without mentioning her collaborator, who has fallen out of favor since City of Gods released almost a year ago.
West’s anti-Semitic words and actions have led to the termination of a large number of his recent business partnerships, most notably adidas’ severing ties with the disgraced rapper’s YEEZY brand. Ye later appeared on Alex Jones’ Infowars program, in which he expressed his admiration for Adolf Hitler.
Kanye was also booted from Twitter after posting an image of a swastika stylized as a Star of David, not before publicly posting his screenshots of an iMessage thread between him and Elon Musk, who told the rapper what he was doing was “not love.” “. Shortly thereafter, the owner of the social media platform swung the ban hammer in the direction of the rapper.
West went dark on social media for a while after that, but appears to be back on Instagram, where he’s unfollowed a large number of accounts. There is also speculation that the rapper has also started producing new music.
Other nominees for the NAACP’s Image Award for Best Hip-Hop Song include “Wait For U” by Future feat. Drake and Tems, “Hotel Lobby” by Quavo and Takeoff, “BILLIE EILISH”. by Armani White and The Heart Part 5 by Kendrick Lamar.
