Kelsea Ballerini celebrates 30th birthday with VMAs performance in 2023


Kelsea Ballerini On Tuesday, September 12, she celebrated two major milestones: her first appearance at the MTV Video Music Awards and her 30th birthday.
Ballerini rocked the Prudential Center stage with her rendition of “Penthouse.” Roll up the welcome mat E.P. She stunned in a white column dress while an orchestra accompanied the performance.
During Tuesday’s set, the “healed” version of the song’s lyrics was heard and she even changed outfits during the long break after the bridge. At the end of the number, her white look was pulled away to reveal a black minidress underneath.
Ballerini attended the VMAs with her boyfriend, Chase Stokes, and they sealed their red carpet moment with a sweet kiss. The duo, who have been linked since January, coordinated their outfits and opted for red. Stokes, 30, noted on the MTV pre-show that the matching looks were “coincidental.”
As Ballerini prepared to take the stage, she noted via Instagram Story that making her VMAs debut on her birthday was a “slam-dunk achievement.”

Ballerini has produced a lot of music over the last year to please fans. After releasing their fourth studio album in September 2022 Subject to changeshe fell Roll up the welcome mata six-song EP inspired by her divorce in 2022 Morgan Evans, in February. Six months later, an updated version of the project appeared, Roll up the welcome mat (forever)came out.

The country singer spoke in August about how the songs evolved after they were performed live. “It’s not mine anymore, it’s just not mine. It’s “our” thing, so to speak. And so [the fans have] I was very vocal from the start – as soon as I played Blindsided SNLThey said, ‘We need the ‘Yeah, sure, okay’ version,” she said exclusively Us weekly by the time. “And then when I started singing ‘Penthouse’ live, it kind of changed and evolved every night. And then one day, on a whim, I just changed a word and it took on a whole new life and they said, “We need this version.” It’s called “The Healed Version.” I never thought of that! They were.”
Ballerini further explained how her feelings changed after she put some distance between herself and the music. “I’m just at a point where the songs and what they were about – of course that will always be a chapter of my life that I’ll bookmark with this album – but I don’t have those feelings about it anymore,” she said . “It is this very thing that has connected me to people and I want to thank them by giving them what they asked for through this music. That’s why I’m so excited about it. My only feeling for it is gratitude.”
