Kevin Can F Himself Series Finale Explained: Erinn Hayes as Molly

Erinn Hayes has the last laugh.

Five years after her character Donna Gable was killed Kevin can wait Hayes appears in AMC’s series finale via a kung fu coupon Kevin can fuck himself — and TVLine has an exclusive clip of her debut.

spoilers ahead: The finale, titled “Allison’s House,” and streaming on AMC+ ahead of its linear premiere on Monday, October 10 (AMC, 9/8c), sets six months after Allison McRoberts (played by Schott’s Creek‘s Annie Murphy) successfully faked her own death. During the episode, “Allison comes to terms with what she’s running from and what she left behind,” according to the official synopsis.

Meanwhile, alleged widower Kevin has grown a beard — not dissimilar to the beard Kevin Gable grew after losing his beloved Donna to, um… unknown causes. He’s also found a replacement for his sitcom wife: Hayes’ Molly (last name not given). We’re told they met just two months after Allison’s accident.

Once Kevin’s best friend Neil mentions how much he likes having Molly around. “You guys have made things so much better,” he says. “You’ve given us our lives back over the last six months.” Kevin’s friend points out that she’s only been in the picture since four months, but Neil doesn’t care. He’s just relieved that “the wicked witch is dead”. Cue the laugh track!

Kevin can fuck himself – whose title is an obvious nod to CBS Kevin can wait, a short-lived comedy best remembered for its sloppy handling of Hayes’ eviction as Kevin James’ significant other – has spent two seasons exploring the sitcom wife’s secret life and how the world is seen through her eyes looks. Alternating between single-camera realism and multi-camera comedy, the series has shown what happens when Murphy’s Allison McRoberts “escapes her limitations and takes charge of her own life.”

Hayes’ stunt casting as Allison’s backup – a thankless role meanwhile filled by Leah Remini Kevin can wait Season 2 – comes full circle on the meta-series.
