Kiki McCray is the real star of ‘The Challenge: USA’
The challenge: United States featured popular vets from CBS feature reality shows entering the competition for the first time. vets out Survivor, Big Brother, The Amazing Race, and island of love formed the cast competing for the $500,000 prize. And the winners of the show’s first season were Danny McCray and Sarah Lacina. But the real star of The challenge: United States Season 1 was Danny’s wife, Kiki — and she didn’t even compete.

Kiki McCray has never performed The challenge: United States. In fact, she’s never been in a single episode of reality TV. But thanks to her husband Danny’s endless mentions, she became a “unique” fan favorite in season one.
Every week, the former NFL player mentioned “my wife Kiki” in his confessions. And it happened so often that fans started jokingly calling Danny “Kiki’s husband” on social media.
After being talked about non-stop throughout the season, Kiki finally spoke up in an interview with Entertainment Weekly. And she revealed that her story was “accurately portrayed” and “it’s all true.”
“I drive or die for my husband, and I’m a diehard challenge Super fan. I wouldn’t have agreed with Danny to continue survivor if he didn’t promise me that he would try to move on The challenge next, so he’s living my dream now, and now challenge Fans know me so I just freak out. I only got positive reactions and outpourings, so it was great.”
Danny McCray’s wife is the real star of the show
Kiki admits she was initially surprised to receive so many mentions during Danny’s interviews. She thought, “Is that all you want to say?” because it was “pretty much the majority of his TV time.” However, she was thrilled that her husband was “obviously comfortable enough to share with the world how obsessed he was with his wife — how he was meant to be.”
“He sets the bar high. And now I have a lot to do. I have to shop less and do things less to live up to this title he gave me. But it was really fun. We take it out to dinner or to various events [Dallas] Cowboys and people will recognize him, but then they just want to take pictures with me,” revealed Kiki.

Kiki says her favorite weekly mention was when Danny said, “I can’t die or my wife Kiki would kill me.” She admits he was “so right” and yelled at the TV. She noted that everything Danny said was true and nothing about her was off limits.
“It was all fair game. There weren’t any rules or anything like that,” Kiki said. “People always ask me about it survivor because when it gets cold they need to cuddle and all that stuff, and I’ve just never really been a jealous spouse. I have a thick skin in this department. I really just wanted him to focus on the game, both games when he’s playing, and give 100 percent his best.”
