Kim Kardashian finally breaks the silence on the Balenciaga campaign controversy

Kim Kardashian has finally broken her silence on the controversial Balenciaga Ad campaign after the luxury brand, for which Kardashian is an ambassador, came under fire over recent marketing collateral showing children holding BDSM-themed teddy bears and posing in front of legal documents surrounding child pornography.

After the ad’s launch and subsequent removal, Kardashian was urged by her fans and followers to speak out about the controversy. She has now released a statement on Twitter, explaining that she spoke to the brand’s marketing team to understand how it happened. She ended her statement by saying that she accepted the brand’s apology and that she is taking the “necessary steps” to ensure this never happens again.

Unfortunately, Kardashian didn’t share the specifics of what was discussed.

“I’ve been calm for the past few days, not because I wasn’t shocked and outraged by Balenciaga’s recent campaigns, but because I wanted the opportunity to speak to their team to understand for myself how this could have happened.

“As a mother of four, I was shocked by these disturbing images. Child safety must be given the highest priority and anything that speaks against it should have no place in our society – period.

“I appreciate Balenciaga’s campaign removal and apologies. If I speak to them, I believe they will understand the seriousness of the problem and will take the necessary measures to ensure that this never happens again.”

The statement didn’t sit well with some followers, as they saw it as Kardashian waiting for the whole controversy to “fly over.” Some questioned why no one in the brand or production team took responsibility for the controversy.

Last week, Gabriel Galimberti, the photographer of the photo shoot, published his statement on Instagram. He stated that he only follows orders and has no control over the props on set.

Balenciaga apologized on Instagram, saying it was unaware of the content captured at the photoshoot, and has filed a $25 million lawsuit against the production company. Balenciaga has since gone private on Instagram, removing every post from his account. Kim Kardashian finally breaks the silence on the Balenciaga campaign controversy
