“Kindred” canceled on Hulu – no season 2

Dana’s traumatic journey down memory lane comes to an end.

Hulu canceled relationshipthe adaptation of the famous novel by Octavia E. Butlerafter The Hollywood Reporter. TVLine has reached out to Hulu for confirmation.

The story follows Dana James (We crashed‘s Mallori Johnson), a young black woman and aspiring soap writer who “uprooted her life from family commitments and moved to Los Angeles ready to claim a future that, for once, feels all her own,” according to the official Summary. “But before she can settle into her new home, she is violently pulled back and forth in time. She emerges on a 19th-century plantation, a place that is remarkable and deeply connected to Dana and her family.”

Season 1 ended with Dana going back to 2016 after being killed by Thomas (True Blood‘s Ryan Kwanten), where she concluded that keeping Rufus alive until her closest ancestor was born might stop the jumps. As Dana prepared for a return to the past, Denise received a surprising phone call from Alan: Olivia has been found… in the present. (Read our full synopsis of the finale here.)

The series also stars Micah Stock (The right stuff) as Kevin Franklin, Sheria Irving (Twenties) as Dana’s mother Olivia, Gayle Rankin (PerryMason) as Margaret Weylin, Austin Smith (Russian doll) as Luke, David Alexander Kaplan (stranger things) as Rufus Weylin and Sophina Brown (zoo).
