LA County’s average gas prices break the $6 mark for the first time since April 1

LOS ANGELES (CNS) — The average price for a gallon of self-serve regular gasoline in Los Angeles County topped $6 for the first time since April 1 Sunday, rising 3.8 cents to $6,013.

The average price is up 23.9 cents for 18 straight days, including 5.6 cents on Saturday, the biggest rise since March 19, according to figures from the AAA and the Oil Price Information Service.

The average price is 13.8 cents higher than a week ago, 20.4 cents higher than a month ago and $1,843 higher than a year ago. It’s 5.7 cents down from the March 28 record high of $6.07.

Orange County’s median price rose to its highest amount since March 30, rising 5.3 cents to $5,997. It’s up 28.6 cents in 17 days over the past 18 days, including 7 cents on Saturday, the biggest rise since March 10.

The median price in Orange County is 15.6 cents up from a week ago, 23.3 cents up from a month ago and $1,867 up from a year ago. That’s down 3.2 cents from the March 29 record high of $6.029.

The national median price rose 1.8 cents on Sunday to a record $4.47, erasing Saturday’s previous record.
