LAPD fires, wounding man after responding to report of man armed with machete in Lake Balboa

LAKE BALBOA, LOS ANGELES (KABC) — Los Angeles police shot dead and wounded a man after responding to a report of a man armed with a machete in Lake Balboa on Wednesday morning, authorities said.
According to the Los Angeles Police Department, officers were called to the 17300 block of Sherman Way around 7 a.m.
Details of what prompted the shooting were not immediately clear.
AIR7 HD news video showed firefighters and paramedics loading a man on a stretcher into an ambulance in an alleyway at the scene.
The man, identified only as about 20 years old, was taken to a hospital with multiple gunshot wounds, according to LAPD officer Tony Im, a police spokesman. His condition was unknown.
No officers were injured in the altercation.
