Larry David confronted Elon Musk over “hateful” tweets – IndieWire

Larry David didn’t contain his dislike for Elon Musk during a wedding.
The “Curb Your Enthusiasm” creator confronted Twitter aka “X” owner Musk during agent Ari Emanuel’s wedding in 2022, as chronicled in the new biography “Elon Musk” by Walter Isaacson.
David and Musk sat at the same table during the wedding reception, prompting David to ask Musk, “Do you just want to murder children in schools?” in an excerpt from the book (via The New York Post). The wedding took place four days after the school massacre in Uvalde, Texas.
According to the bio, Musk responded, “I’m against child murder,” to which “Seinfeld” creator David asked, “Then how could you vote Republican?”
David later confirmed the encounter to biographer Isaacson, telling the author: “His tweets about voting Republican because Democrats were the party of division and hate stuck with me. Even if Uvalde had never happened, I probably would have brought it up because I was angry and offended.”
MSNBC “Morning Joe” co-host Joe Scarborough also sat at the same table with David and Musk; The news reporter called their encounter “all pretty amusing,” especially because groom Emanuel specifically placed Scarborough next to Musk since he’s “not a big fan of Elon.”
This isn’t the first time David has come face-to-face with a disgraced public figure: While at a grocery store on Martha’s Vineyard, David turned to attorney Alan Dershowitz, who has ties to Harvey Weinstein, Jeffrey Epstein and Donald Trump has. David reportedly told Dershowitz it was “disgusting” to be associated with Trump’s Secretary of State Mike Pompeo and his other cohorts. Pompeo was a former law student of Dershowitz, and the two reunited at an event celebrating the Abraham Accords Movement for Peace in Israel. David was referring to the coverage of Dershowitz and Pompeo together.
Dershowitz later said of the encounter: “He called me disgusting and said he could never talk to me. Here’s a guy who used to come to our house to work out at the gym. Two or three times a summer he came to our house for dinner. We are friends. I represented him twice on a voluntary basis. Suddenly this happened, just because of that and because I’m obviously defending Trump.”
