Later storms are expected today and tomorrow

TAMPA, Fla. (WFLA) – After hitting a record high of 94 degrees yesterday at Tampa International Airport, today is starting out warm and muggy with temperatures quickly climbing into the low 90s. That’s above average for mid-May.

The first showers will appear in the middle of the afternoon and the chance of rain increases to 40% in the evening. Generally, storms will drift toward the Gulf of Mexico, easing between 9 p.m. and 10 p.m.

We should expect another round of late storms tomorrow. Again, the chance of rain is 40% and the storms don’t start until around 3pm. Stay warm in the low 90s.

For Mother’s Day it should be a little drier with a rain probability of only 20%. It’s still gonna be hot even in the low 90’s so keep mama cool!

Next week will be near normal with highs in the upper 80s to almost 90s. A few scattered showers are expected daily.

An onshore wind will develop mid-week, which can bring showers a little earlier in the day.
