Leaked Microsoft documents suggest Xbox is planning a next-generation hybrid console for 2028

Earlier this year, Microsoft and Xbox were in court over their $69 billion acquisition of Activision Blizzard. Various previously unpublished documents from these lawsuits have been leaked, revealing that Xbox boss Phil Spencer once considered acquiring Nintendo and Warner Bros. games, an update to the Xbox Series X/S and a new Xbox controller for 2024 are planned and that there are potential remasters of Fallout 3 and The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion. Another leaked document details the company’s plans for a next-generation hybrid console in 2028, as reported by The edge.
This document does not reveal what the console is, what it might be called, and what it might one day look like. However, it reveals some key details about its architecture and how Xbox views it as a hybrid gaming platform that leverages the cloud.
In the “Our Vision” section of the document, Microsoft writes: “Develop a next-generation hybrid gaming platform capable of harnessing the combined power of client and cloud to enable deeper immersion and entirely new classes of gaming experiences . “Optimized for real-time gaming.” “For Play and Creators, we will enable new levels of performance that go beyond the capabilities of client hardware alone.”
The document also lists “key strategic decisions and investments” related to CPU, GPU, graphics innovations and more. You can check it all out for yourself below:
