“Let Me In, I’ll Kill You All”: Gunman saves barricaded wife and child from knife-wielding menace

A police officer responding to a burglary call in the western Las Vegas Valley heard a gunshot as he arrived at the scene. He rushed to the residence and found a bloody mess. The person who cried out and cried out in pain on the ground was not the victim but someone who made the mistake of allegedly threatening an armed citizen and his family.

what are the details

At approximately 5:30 a.m. on October 22, the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police responded to a burglary call near West Sahara Avenue and South Hualapai Way. They found 28-year-olds David Valle with a gunshot wound and a shattered tibia.

According to the arrest report, Valle entered a family home through an unlocked back door, grabbed a knife, and besieged the master bedroom on the second floor.

How did it go?

The Las Vegas Review-Journal reported that a “loud, breaking noise” woke the occupants — a husband, wife and daughter, all together in the master bedroom on the second floor. The family acted immediately.

The woman was the first to tell her husband to call the police. Both parents then barricaded the door.

On the other side of the barricade was a shirtless man, later identified as Valle, who was carrying a knife. He is said to have knocked on doors in the house and threatened: “Come out, come out, you’re running out of time.”

The husband behind the makeshift barricade readied his pistol and announced that he would use it. Because Valle allegedly yelled in Spanish, the homeowner claimed he had a “pistola.”

The arrest report showed Valle responding, “Let me in, I’ll kill you all!”

After a warning, the husband gave another and fired a shot into the ceiling. When that didn’t work, he reportedly fired a shot through the bedroom door.

The arrest report indicated that his aim was to punch Valle in the leg. As it turned out, his aim was good.

The policeman who heard the shots outside kicked in the front door. He announced himself as a Metro officer, ran upstairs and found Valle bleeding from his left leg.

Valle was brought out in handcuffs by two police officers. He was caught on video lying handcuffed on the front lawn.

Valle was charged with burglary with possession of a deadly weapon and assault with a deadly weapon and was committed to the Clark County Detention Center. He is scheduled to appear in court on November 9 and his bail has been set at $35,000.

A crazy night

Police suspect Valle was either mentally unstable or intoxicated. After all, his alleged attempted break-in wasn’t his first incident, recorded early on October 22nd.

CLASS reported that Valle had called police just over four hours before the alleged break-in attempt, claiming that someone outside his home “poked a sword through the hole in the door and cut off the phone call.”

In another seemingly paranoid call to police, Valle claimed several people were following him and “hiding in bushes and behind bus stops.”

Two other police reports this morning mentioned a frightened man trying to avoid people who were allegedly “trying to kill him”.

The setback

This is the second time in the past week that a homeowner has stopped an intruder with an aimed shot through a bedroom door.

TheBlaze reported that on Tuesday night a man allegedly broke into a woman’s home in rural Edinburgh, Texas, prompting the mother to lock herself and her children in her bedroom.

Officials said the woman warned the suspected intruder that she was armed, but Carlos Garcia, 36, still tried to break into the bedroom. The warning didn’t work, but a single shot through the door did.

Hidalgo County Sheriff Eddie Guerra praised the woman’s courage, saying, “You have the right to defend yourself in your own home against an intruder … She did what she had to do and we support her.”
