Liam Gallagher is working on a surprise collaboration album with the great rock legend

OASIS as a group were great, but now Liam Gallagher is moving on in a new supergroup.

I learned that he teamed up with John Squire, guitarist for The Stone Roses, to record an album.

The as-yet-untitled album is scheduled to be released next year, and live shows are also being planned.

My music source said: “Liam and John have been friends for years, but it was after his sell-out gigs at Knebworth last summer that things really took shape.

“At first they just wanted to go into the studio together and see how things turned out.

“The sessions went so well that they now want to release an album next year.

“There has been talk about playing a handful of live shows in conjunction with the release, but nothing is set in stone yet.”

Liam caused a stir in June last year after John joined him in Knebworth to help perform the 1995 Oasis classic Champagne Supernova.

He was criticized by Matt Wilkinson on Apple Music at the time, but remained coy.

When asked if they would work together, Liam said: “I will definitely do Summat at some point. We’re talking about Summat. Perhaps. But don’t rush. He is my husband, I love him. So if he’s got songs that need to be sung, then I’m the guy, mate.”

The news comes just days after Liam announced a UK arena tour to celebrate the 30th anniversary of Oasis’ debut album Definitely Maybe.

The record contained the hits Live Forever and Supersonic.

While the anniversary wasn’t enough to convince Liam and his brother Noel to bury the hatchet, Liam will be joined by Oasis guitarist Paul “Bonehead” Arthurs at the special shows where they will play the album in its entirety.

To put it in his own words, between his Oasis anniversary performances and his new album with John, it looks like Liam’s 2024 is going to be biblical.

Game for Glasto

RONNIE Wood is desperate to headline Glastonbury again and would ask Rod Stewart to get FACES back together for it.

He last headlined there a decade ago with the Rolling Stones.

And with her album Hackney Diamonds out on Friday, next year might be the perfect time.

He said: “It’s a must. If not next year, then . . . If not the stones, then the faces.”

In a chat with NME, he also confirmed The Sun’s report that Stones guitarist Keith Richards and singer Mick Jagger had developed a calmer relationship.

He joked: “It’s wonderful to see that all my damn efforts have paid off.”

Last month we announced that Sir Mick Jagger, Keith Richards and Ronnie Wood were making a new documentary showing the making of Hackney Diamonds.

I hope there will be a bit of drama too since they teamed up with the company behind The Kardashians to make it.

A source said: “Stones fans are in for a treat as not only are they getting a new album but a documentary too.”

“The band worked with Fulwell 73 on the production. They’re the team behind the Kardashians’ big deal with Hulu.

“The film will show the band as they began working on the 12 tracks that appear on Hackney Diamonds.

“It will give fans an intimate and candid look at Mick, Keith and Ronnie as they work their magic in the studio, including the banter between them.

“There will also be references to Charlie Watts, as this is the first record the band have recorded since his death in 2021.

“It also includes scenes from their big press event at the Hackney Empire where they premiered the video for Angry with Sydney Sweeney.

“It’s a very sophisticated production and it’s going to be great when it’s edited and the final cut is done.”
