Henry Cavill depart The Witcher Show in Mid-Flight will likely go down in history as one of the few instances where a story in the entertainment medium has lost its lead. To say that of Cavill, however, would be to underestimate its importance. The man essentially wore the Netflix adaptation, and now they want fans to pretend the first three seasons didn’t exist and get used to seeing Liam Hemsworth, of all people, in the role. Well, you know what Geralt himself would say in a situation like this. “The sun shines differently, but it will continue to shine, and jumping on it with a hoe will do no good.”

Unlike many streaming-era fantasy television shows that run for the increasingly standardized 8-episode format, house of the dragon followed in the footsteps of its predecessor by adapting it Fire & Blood in series of 10 episodes. The immediate result of this gave the writers the breathing room they needed to really flesh out the plot and its characters, but it seems that despite spending a little over 10 hours in Westeros, a house Fans want more, especially when they have two more years to wait for the next season.

Enter deleted scenes. According to George RR Martin, there are certainly plenty of them that didn’t make it into the final cut, and HBO may well decide to release them as part of a blooper reel or as Blu-ray extras, so let’s see whether the gods are with us in this home release version.

We’ve had a few hours to munch over this explosive announcement, but it still doesn’t make much more sense than it did when that first headline hit social media like a maelstrom. I mean, why would Cavill leave a role he loves so much? The man was like that witcher Nerd that he corrected people on set when they got it wrong, even the writers. Could it be that Cavill had a falling out with Lauren S. Hissrich or one of her writers? I guess we’ll never know the truth about mom being the word on Netflix, but it seems so witcher Fans just can’t picture Liam Hemsworth as their beloved White Wolf.
