Lil Nas X fans are amazed at how much Japan ignores Montero-san

World famous rapper Lil Nas X, real name Montero Lamar Hill, is one of the better known celebrities but apparently not in Japan. That star walking Star snapped some photos on a crowded Japanese subway train recently, and the other passengers don’t even seem to notice… but fans did.

Hill tweeted some photos of herself in a suit with a tie pulled over the collar of a blue shirt with a you know what – just look. Montero-san is born!

People couldn’t be less interested that one of pop’s biggest stars be in their presence, which is objectively amazing. Of course the fans had a great day. Here is an example of some comments:

“I really live for how they mind their own business,” one person said. “Mfs have no idea who they are on the tube with,” said another. “Crying because they don’t know who you are.” There are many of them.

“Feel a nasty cancellation brewing,” said another. Maybe because he used a Japanese flag? Seems like everyone is always in ready-to-quit mode. Others just love Hill as there is also a plethora of “he is so good” comments from many people.

Hill even did some TikToks of the entire Japan trip, giving the rest of us a more comprehensive view of the whole situation. Here he shows the whole outfit:

And here he’s hunched over in a convenience store — a decidedly American activity in a country known for its respect for respectful social norms.

We’ll be keeping an eye on this in case it evolves into the Lil Nas X cancellation tour.
