Lizzo smashes audiences with an absolutely stunning tribute to Tina Turner

Lizzo honored late music icon Tina Turner with a breathtaking moment in Phoenix on Wednesday night.

“As a black girl in a rock band, I wouldn’t exist without the queen of rock ‘n’ roll,” she said. “And remember: without Tina Turner, there would be no rock ‘n’ roll.”

She then began “Proud Mary,” one of Turner’s signature tracks, complete with some Turner-inspired dance moves while much of the sold-out Footprint Center sang along:

“Proud Maria” was one 1969 hit by Creedence Clearwater Revival. Ike and Tina Turner famously reworked the song, and two years later it became a hit for them — and a staple of Tina Turner’s live shows for the rest of her career:
