“Love and Thunder” is being trashed again for ruining characters

Just when you thought it was safe to come back to the web as a build for next month’s release Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania continues to gain momentum, the past summer has been incredibly and consistently divisive Thor: Love and Thunder rushed back into the limelight.
It’s a well-known criticism leveled at Taika Waititi’s cosmic caper, except this time the anger isn’t directed at it, as Chris Hemsworth’s titular hero, Christian Bale’s Gorr the God Butcher, Natalie Portman’s Jane Foster, or Tessa Thompson’s Valkyrie, falls short and largely busy were wasted.
Instead, Russell Crowe’s comic relief version of the almighty deity Zeus is the one that’s coming under fire on Reddit, particularly in regards to a deleted scene showing him as a friendly father figure with an underlying mean streak. Obviously we’ve gotten that in the theatrical version now, with the Oscar winner swearing by the cheap seats and constantly talking about orgies instead.
Buried deep inside somewhere Thor: Love and Thunder is a film people would love, but cutting the running time to under two hours didn’t do it any favors, nor did Waititi’s signature style prove much more compelling than on the fantastic ones Ragnarok.
We’re not even sure we’ll see Crowe’s Zeus again despite the post-credits scene, but if there’s another director at the helm of the hypothetical Thor 5, then perhaps amends can be made to become the Mount’s chief honcho Olympus to transform something more appropriate.
