MAGA World cheers as Elon Musk fires lawyer who banned Trump from Twitter

Supporters of Donald Trump are happily reacting to the news that Twitter’s new owner, Elon Musk, has fired the lawyer who terminated the former president’s account on the social media platform.

After Musk took control of Twitter on Thursday, he quickly fired the company’s CEO, Parag Agrawal, and other executives, the Associated Press reports, including chief counsel Vijaya Gadde, who called in January 2021 to permanently terminate Trump’s account for inciting violence to lock. Conservatives, who have complained that Twitter’s content moderation is uneven, have been receptive to Musk’s ownership of the platform. Now they’re cheering Musk’s early decisions.

“I’ve been suspended 8 times for no reason,” Libs tweeted from TikTok, a Twitter account known for mocking liberals. “I have zero sympathy for Vijaya Gadde – Head of Account Suspension and Censorship.”

“Thank you, thank you, thank you Elon Musk!” Pro-Trump TEAM USA responded to the dismissal in a tweet.

Conservative commentator Dinesh D’Souza tweeted that Agarwal and Gadde’s shot was “karma” for what he said as they used the platform to quell their opponents.

Musk, the world’s richest man who runs electric carmaker Tesla and space exploration company SpaceX, agreed to buy Twitter in April. He promised improvements to the digital town square that included looser content restrictions to facilitate free speech.

“By ‘freedom of speech,’ I mean simply what conforms with the law,” Musk said a tweet In April. “I am against censorship that goes far beyond the law.”

Ahead of completing the $44 billion acquisition, Musk criticized Gadde for her previous decisions to restrict political content. Specifically, Musk had trouble with Twitter restricting a New York Post Article about alleged interference by President Joe Biden’s son, Hunter Biden, during the 2020 election.

“He certainly got off to a flying start,” tweeted Lee Harris, who describes himself as a conservative, in response to Musk’s takeover. “Looks like he’s serious.”

Harris responded to Gadde’s shot with the tears of joy emoji and the word “wonderful”.

Political commentator Tim Pool, who has accused the platform of unfairly censoring conservatives, tweeted that he “cracked a bottle of Louis XIII to celebrate Elon buying Twitter”.

“Maybe Vijaya can learn programming, I think Parag already knows how,” he added.

But Gadde had sympathizers.

Twitter user V pointed out that Trump was also dumped from other social media platforms, suggesting Gadde was unfairly singled out for the call.

Olivia Troye, who served as an advisor to former Vice President Mike Pence, praised Gadde in a tweet: “I just want to thank her and her team for their dedication to making a difference.”
