Man in custody after SWAT operation in southeast Austin

No one was injured and the man has not been identified.

AUSTIN, Texas — A man is in custody Friday night following a SWAT operation in southeast Austin.

According to that Austin Police DepartmentThe incident began when officers served a felony warrant Friday afternoon at a condominium complex located at 6936 E. Ben White Boulevard.

Officers were serving an arson warrant around 4 p.m. when they saw the man on the balcony of his apartment. Then he went back inside.

Due to his previous gun charges and the fact that he was a known arsonist, officers called the SWAT team. SWAT arrived a few hours later and eventually helped officers take the man into custody.

No one was injured and the man has not been identified.

The residents were evacuated as a precaution and the road in the area was closed. Authorities also brought in a CapMetro bus to keep evacuated residents warm and dry while rain swept through the area.

While the suspect is in custody, authorities are now clearing his apartment and reopening the street. Humans were also allowed to return.
