Mariah Carey was mocked for lackluster lip-synching at the Thanksgiving Day Parade

Another year, another Thanksgiving, and another signal that we’ll be spending the next month topping up Mariah Carey‘s coffers by paying her copious royalties for “All I Want for Christmas is You.”

Granted, Carey doesn’t seem to be doing much to spur those royalties — it’s an iconic Christmas carol and there’s not much that can be done to slow the speeding train.

However, the amount of effort required on her part is really underscored by her annual appearance at the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade and the ridiculous lip-synching effort she pulls off.

In what is quickly becoming a new holiday tradition, Twitter quickly went live and began amassing the pop star’s badge of participation:

Perhaps Mariah Carey is beginning to realize that it takes little to no effort on your part to keep those sweet, sweet Christmas bucks in her bank account every year, which is why she has gone out of her way to remind us that Halloween is over and Mariah’s season is over Carey begins.

That, or her status as the Christmas Queen, has been threatened from beyond her Iron Throne (made out of candy canes) with Lindsay Lohan releasing her performance of Jingle Bell Rock in her new Netflix film. In love with Christmas.

To be honest, none of the above probably matters — as far as that reluctant Grinch is concerned, we’ll be listening to “All I Want for Christmas is You” on repeat for years in December Come on.

And they all lived happily ever after, he said, as he convulsed and his heart mercifully stayed the same size because cardiomegaly is a warning sign of more serious cardiovascular disease.
