Matthew McConaughey’s father would give his sons’ dates a foot massage

Matthew McConaugheys father had an interesting routine before his sons went on their dates.

“Now you know where I got this from. That’s my dad’s trick,” McConaughey, 53, said Joy Behar while rubbing his foot during his performance on Tuesday, September 12th The view, recreating his viral 2006 appearance on the talk show. “If you remember what the inspiration for that was, my dad would do that.”

He continued: I have two older brothers. Every time we went on a date, we noticed that they came over earlier and earlier. Dad always rubbed their feet.”

Behar, 80, joked that McConaughey’s skills matched his father’s as she teased that he might look at “reflexology” as his “next career.”

This isn’t the first time McConaughey’s parents have made headlines for being actively involved in the actor’s love life. In August, McConaughey’s wife Camila Alves revealed that her mother-in-law, Mary Kathleen McCabeused to test her at the beginning of their relationship.

“She did all those things when I was first in the picture, right? And she really tested me. I mean, this is really testing me,” Alves, 41, said on an August episode of Life in the South‘S”Cookies and jam” Podcast. “She called me all of Matthew’s ex-girlfriends’ names and started speaking Spanish to me in a very broken way, a little belittling. I mean, all sorts of things.”

Alves, who tied the knot with McConaughey in June 2012, noted that her and McCabe’s relationship finally changed after a trip to Istanbul together. While the duo was a little tense at first, they came home with a new perspective on each other

“I’m putting her to bed and I realized, ‘Oh my God, she’s full of shit,'” Alves joked, laughing. “All she wanted was for me to fight back. And from that day, from that night, we have an incredible relationship and I have so much respect for her. She has so much respect for me. I mean, it can get difficult sometimes, you know? But we always end with a good laugh and a joke.”
