MCSO man is wanted in Columbus and Russell County for attempted shoplifting of $1,200 in merchandise

COLUMBUS, Georgia (WRBL) – The Muscogee County Sheriff’s Office arrested a man on multiple warrants in Columbus and Russell Counties who attempted to steal merchandise from a store while MCSO investigators were inside the store.

MCSO says Sheriff’s Office Special Operations Unit investigators were working a case at the Home Depot in Columbus where William Willett attempted to leave the store with over $1,200 worth of merchandise without paying.

As investigators approached Willett, he attempted to escape, but investigators were able to arrest him and it was later discovered that he also had several outstanding warrants for his arrest.

Investigators arrested Willett and charged him with the following:

  • Felony theft by shoplifting
  • Obstruction of a police officer

At the time of his arrest, Willett had warrants for theft by shoplifting from the CPD and theft from the Russell County Sheriff’s Office.
