Meet her 5 sisters and more
One in six! Gisele Bundchen grew up with five sisters, including her fraternal twin, Patricia Bundchen.
“When I grew up in Horizontina, [Brazil]there were six of us girls at the dining table, six voices raised to talk, laugh or disagree at the same time,” the model wrote in her 2018 memoir. Lessons: My Path to a Meaningful Life. “One day my father made a rule: if either of us had something to say, we had to raise our hands.”
Elsewhere in the book, the Brazilian native remarked that she had “the best childhood in the world.” Gisele often praised her parents – her father Valdir Bundchen and mom Vania Nonnenmacher – for the loving upbringing of her and her sisters.
“Congratulations to our Wonder Woman! Mom, I can’t imagine the work and dedication it takes to raise the 6 of us!” She shared an Instagram photo of herself, Vânia and her five sisters – Patricia, Raquel, Graziela, Gabriela and Rafaela – dated Captioned July 2019. “Eternally grateful for everything you have done and will continue to do for us. Thank you for always loving and inspiring us. I love you sooo much!”
For his birthday in May 2020, the businesswoman also showed some love to her father.
“Thank you for being an example of integrity, reliability, love, courage and commitment,” she captioned a commemorative photo of her father walking her down the aisle as she married her ex-husband Tom Brady in 2009. “Thank you for being our advisor, for guiding us, for always helping and encouraging us all to make a difference. Thanks for being the best dad in the world!”
Although Gisele always spoke highly of her family, she previously recounted an incident in which she lost her temper towards her twin and said things that she later regretted.
“I always thought what an idiot I was. I love all my sisters. Why was I so mean? My justification – But Pati was mean to me at first! She started it! – suddenly seemed lame,” she recalls in her memoirs. “There were so many other, better ways I could have handled the situation, like saying, ‘I’m sorry you feel that way about me,’ or ‘Why don’t we talk again tomorrow?’ I didn’t have to spank my sister, but I had, and I was incredibly upset for the next day or two.”
The twins made a rare red carpet appearance together at the Luz Alliance Gala in Miami in May 2023, helping to raise nearly $1 million for the Brazilian foundation to support restoration efforts in their home country.
Patricia lives with her husband and their two children mainly in Brazil, where she works as Gisele’s manager. Us weekly confirmed in October 2022 that Gisele had started living in Miami in the wake of her divorce from Brady. The exes, who share son Benjamin, born in 2009, and daughter Vivian, born in 2012, moved together from Massachusetts to Tampa, Florida in 2020.
