Meghan Markle Receives New Award for “Relentless” Activism

Meghan Markle needs to free up some space on her mantel; She received another charitable award for her “tireless work for gender and racial equality across the country and around the world” and “for her global advocacy for the empowerment and advocacy of women and girls.”
The new gong comes from the Ms. Foundation for Women and will be presented by her friend Gloria Steinem, who the foundation’s website describes as “co-founder of the Ms. Foundation.”
The theme of the May 15 Women of Vision Awards and Gala Dinner, tickets are $1,500, is Celebrating Generations of Progress & Power.
The organization says Markle is honored for her “lifelong advocacy for women and girls,” which “remains a constant thread she weaves through both humanitarian and business endeavors.”
A profile page says of Markle, “In 2022, Meghan launched Archetypes, a record-breaking podcast examining the labels trying to hold women back.”
It states that she is “a passionate advocate for family rights and an investor in dynamic women-founded companies” and “known as one of the most powerful and influential women in the world”.
The website profile also describes her as a New York Times Bestselling author citing her children’s book The Bankhowever, declines to be associated with the withering Just reviewing the same book, entitled “The Tortured Rhyme and Reason of Meghan Markle’s Picture Book Debut,” and saying one of Markle’s rhymes was so bad it should be “illegal.”
Also honored is LaTosha Brown, co-founder of Black Voters Matter.
The gala will be moderated by Danielle Moodie, host of the Woke up AF daily podcast.
Last year, Prince Harry and Meghan were awarded the Ripple of Hope prize by the Robert F Kennedy Foundation for their “heroic” stand against “structural racism” in the royal family.
Kennedy family scholar David Nasaw called it “somewhere between sublimely ridiculous and patently ridiculous” and asked “what in God’s name” had the Sussexes done “to deserve the award”.
Meghan and Steinem are close friends, as consumers will know from Meghan’s podcasts and interviews, where she has been referred to as a “dear friend”.
Meghan said of her: “She reminds me that when you have anger you have to channel that energy into something that makes a difference. This is activism. It’s about how we show up.”
