SAN FRANCISCO (KGO) — Sen. Dianne Feinstein’s memorial service will be held Thursday on the steps of San Francisco City Hall in a private service, her office said Wednesday.
The late senator and first female mayor of San Francisco died on Friday at the age of 90.
Mourners flocked to San Francisco City Hall on Wednesday to pay their respects to the late U.S. Sen. Dianne Feinstein, honoring her as fearless, smart and the glue that held the city together after two political assassinations that propelled her to the office of mayor and mayor of the National Council catapulted, held together spotlights.

When and where is the funeral service?
Due to increased security, Senator Feinstein’s memorial service on Thursday will no longer be open to the public, San Francisco officials said in a news release Wednesday. Only invited guests have access to the service.

Following the service, the senator will be laid to rest in a private, family-only ceremony.

Feinstein’s remains returned to the Bay Area Saturday evening and were transported by procession to a funeral home in San Francisco.
The trailblazing politician’s body was transported to the Sinai Memorial Chapel in San Francisco. Feinstein’s remains were accompanied by her daughter Katherine Feinstein, as well as Congresswoman Nancy Pelosi and the senator’s chief of staff.
