Miles Morales’ favorite snack in ‘Across the Spider-Verse’ is a huge declaration of love to Brooklyn
Did you see the… Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse Trailer already? If no, why not? It’s right here, for your convenience, should you need it. Life is hectic sometimes – we get it. But if you’ve had a chance to watch the trailer, then you’ll have noticed quite a few spider-men in the multiversal nexus that Miles Morales and Spider-Gwen travel through. We saw Spider-Man 2099, Spider-Woman, Sun-Spider, Spider-Punk and many more. That’s not the most important moment, however, as we also get a better idea of Miles Morales’ favorite meal – which also happens to be an ode to Brooklyn. Oh Brooklyn.
Morales can be seen munching on Jamaican street food at a grocery store in a new picture Across the Spider-Verse. At first glance — and from so far away — it’s hard to tell what Miles is chewing, but Twitter investigators managed to deduce (and likely zoomed in) the exact food item using clues in the background.
Apparently a lot of people were asking what Miles was eating – enough to warrant an endorsement. Luckily we had one of these Across the Spider-Verse‘s several directors, Kemp Powers, available to offer a degree.
A Jamaican beef patty. Delicious. Furthermore, not only are beef patties a delicacy in Brooklyn (there’s a Jamaican grocer about as often as a McDonald’s), but Miles’ voice actor’s family — Shameik Moore — is from Jamaica, so that’s a nice little nod to his Heritage. Miles himself is of Afro-Hispanic descent, but Moore is sure to appreciate the little hint at his family’s culture.
