Monday night’s Powerball jackpot is the fifth largest in the game’s history

It’s fast approaching three months since a Powerball jackpot has been won, meaning there have been no grand prize winners in 2023 so far. This also means that the jackpot has continued to grow. It is now the fifth highest in gaming history and the ninth highest in US lottery gaming history.

The Monday night 6/2/23 Powerball jackpot is worth $747 million with a cash value option worth $403.1 million. The drawing takes place on Monday at 11:00 p.m. ET.

There was no grand prize winner in the $700 million jackpot drawing on Saturday 04/02/23, increasing the rolling prize. However, four tickets were sold — one each in Florida, New Jersey, Oregon and Pennsylvania — matching the first five white balls, and minus the red Powerball, for the game’s second prize of $1 million apiece. If they had bought the Power Play for an additional $1, their second prize would have been worth $2 million.

Additionally, Saturday featured 64 winning tickets that match four of the first five numbers, plus the red Powerball, for $50,000 each. Seventeen others bought the Power Play for an additional $1, making their winnings worth $100,000 each.

According to the Powerball website, there were more than 2 million tickets Saturday that received at least some of their money back from a ticket purchased.

The last Powerball jackpot was won in Kansas on November 19, 2022 for a $93 million draw. The previous winner before that was in California on November 7, 2022 for a grand prize of $2.04 billion. It was the biggest lottery jackpot in history.

Powerball has drawn numbers 33 times since it last had a grand prize winner.

Powerball is a multi-state lottery played every Monday, Wednesday and Saturday and one of America’s two largest lottery jackpot games. Powerball jackpots start at $20 million, and other prizes pay out between $1 million and $2 million on a Power Play. Tickets are $2. You can check the numbers for tonight or previous winning numbers on the official Powerball website.

There are nine ways to win money at Powerball. Just getting the Powerball with no other numbers pays out $4, and even more if the Powerplay is purchased for an extra dollar. The same payout applies to a ball plus the Powerball, and $7 is the payout for matching two Powerball numbers or matching three numbers and no Powerball.

If all five white numbered balls are picked but the red powerball isn’t correct, the payout is $1 million, with an even higher payout if the power play is picked.

On Monday evening we will publish the Powerball draw results from 2/6/23.
