Mother flees McDonald’s drive-thru after shots, hits shooter dead: police

A shooting at a Houston gas station took an unexpected turn after a woman trying to flee the scene struck and killed a man who was allegedly trying to rob someone else, according to local police.

At a Chevron gas station on Thursday afternoon, a man approached someone selling hair extensions and attempted to rob him, according to news channel KTRK. The man selling enhancements grabbed his gun and a shootout ensued.

“The suspect ran across the parking lot. There was a woman in her car and I believe she had a child in the car,” Houston Police Department Lieutenant Larry Crowson told KTRK. “She was very scared. She accelerated at high speed to get out of the parking lot and avoid the gunfire. She hit the suspect and he’s under the car here behind me.”

The suspect died at the scene of the crime.

A spokesman for the Houston Police Department told KHOU that the woman was waiting in line for the McDonald’s drive-thru at the time of the shooting. The spokesman added that the woman would not be charged and called the incident “completely coincidental”.

“She was extremely upset and scared about what happened. She was just trying to protect herself and her children like anyone would,” the rep said.

In another incident in Michigan last month, a dispute at a gas station sparked violence in which a woman’s vehicle crashed into another car with a baby in the back seat. Video of the incident shows two women fighting before one woman gets into her car and it crashes into the other woman’s SUV. The woman later faced charges including malicious destruction of property and two assaults with a dangerous weapon.

Washington state police investigated in February after witnesses said a pedestrian at a jack-in-the-box drive-thru was struck by a vehicle. “Several people called and indicated that this appeared to be intentional given that the man had been run over multiple times,” the Pierce County Sheriff’s Department wrote in a description of the incident at the time.

In March, Florida police accused a man of running over his girlfriend and the woman’s two daughters after an argument at a gas station that day. Mother flees McDonald’s drive-thru after shots, hits shooter dead: police
