Natasha Lyonne channels Philip Marlowe for the ‘Poker Face’ series.

The ‘Russian Doll’ creator is turning to the noir genre for the upcoming Peacock series.

Natasha Lyonne could be the first female Philip Marlowe.

Emmy-nominated “Russian Doll” has channeled the legendary fictional detective for the upcoming Peacock series “Poker Face,” which premieres January 26th. Produced by Rian Johnson, Poker Face follows private investigator Charlie Cale (Lyonne) as he travels across America to solve bizarre crimes.

“I’ve always been obsessed with all versions of Philip Marlowe,” Lyonne told Nylon of her inspiration for the role. “And I’ve long admired and imitated some of our great mumblers, who were often noir guys. [After] ‘Russian Doll’ came out, I guess people noticed that aspect of my personality.”

Lyonne is directing and executive producing an episode of the series, which guest stars Adrien Brody, Joseph Gordon-Levitt, Cherry Jones, Tim Meadows, Nick Nolte, Rhea Perlman, Ron Perlman, Jameela Jamil, Judith Light, Chloë Sevigny, Hong Chau, Lil Rey Howery, Stephanie Hsu, Tim Blake Nelson, Charles Melton, Luis Guzman, Ellen Barkin, Clea DuVall, and Benjamin Bratt.

“What [creator Johnson] makes is just beautiful, and his work is nothing but heart too,” Lyonne said of the Knives Out director. “I think ‘Russian Doll’ really is ‘outsider art’, as there is no better term.”

Lyonne has a cameo in Johnson’s Glass Onion: A Knives Out Mystery, of which she said, “I’ve never really been hugged or put at the center of anything that was potentially so inviting and universal.”

Raymond Chandler’s fictional character Marlowe has been played by Elliott Gould, Humphrey Bogart, James Garner and Robert Mitchum in classic noir films such as The Big Sleep, The Long Goodbye and Lady in the Lake.

Poker Face creator Johnson previously said in a press statement that the series is a “character-driven case-of-the-week mystery” that is an ode to the “goodness I grew up with. It’s my happy place.” The trailer for the upcoming series sees Lyonne grappling with cases and her personal life.

Alongside Poker Face, Lyonne is gearing up for a “secret movie” that she will star in and produce.
