Child fatally struck by subway in Queens after passing out on tracks

NEW YORK — A 10-year-old girl was fatally struck by a subway train in New York City after suffering a medical seizure on the platform early Tuesday.

Officials say the girl was standing at a train station in Queens just before 6:40 a.m. when she collapsed on the platform

The driver of the oncoming train saw her fall and pulled the emergency brake, but was unable to stop in time, authorities said.

The child was pronounced dead at the scene.

Police have checked the surveillance cameras that recorded the incident. Officials say there is no suspicion of a crime.

Subway traffic was severely affected on Tuesday morning.
