Noah Centineo is The Recruit in the Netflix trailer

The action-comedy series launches on Netflix on December 16th.
Fresh from Black Adam, Noah Centineo is back on Netflix, albeit in a very different form. The To All The Boys I’ve Loved Before stars in the first trailer for The Recruit, a spy series coming to stream next month.
The series was created by Alexi Hawley, best known as the creator of the ABC cop trial film The Rookie and its spin-off The Rookie: Feds, and as a writer for the crime procedural film Castle. Like The Rookie, the eponymous Recruit focuses on a very new member of a respected organization: in this case, the CIA.
Centineo stars as Owen Hendricks, a young lawyer who lands a job at the agency and after just two days on the job begins working with Max Meladze (Laura Haddock). Meladze, a former CIA agent with a checkered past, threatens to expose the agency for her transgressions unless she is cleared of a crime. Overzealous to prove himself, Owen rushes into the quest, only for it to quickly spiral out of control as he’s forced to travel the world while being targeted by multiple international political groups and actors. The trailer teases a mix of action and comedy, with Owen’s genuine and hapless personality contrasting with the dangerous situations he finds himself in. Among other mishaps, he is kidnapped and interrogated, vomits in a car, and orders a White Claw reception drink during a fantasy.
“I find this need to jump in at the deep end, to have to prove yourself over and over again, unhealthy,” says a character in the trailer about Owen. “I think it’s ambitious,” Centineo replies.
In addition to Centineo, the cast of The Recruit also includes Aarti Mann, Daniel Quincy Annoh, Vondie Curtis-Hall, Kristian Bruun, Laura Haddock, Colton Dunn, Fivel Stewart, Byron Mann, Angel Parker and Kaylah Zande as Owen’s CIA colleagues as enemies. Centineo and Hawley are executive producers on the show, which stars Adam Ciralsky, Charlie Ebersol and Doug Liman, Gene Klein and David Bartis for Hypnotic, and eOne is producing the series for Netflix.
The Recruit premieres December 16 on Netflix. Check out the full trailer of the series below.
