Obi-Wan Kenobi: James Earl Jones voices Darth Vader in the Disney+ series

The force is particularly strong with Obi Wan Kenobi‘s Darth Vader, it’s now confirmed that franchise icon James Earl Jones is voicing the Sith Lord in the Disney+ series.

Jones made his Obi Wan Debuting in this week’s third episode, he utters his first ominous words during a holo-conference with Reva the Inquisitor (played by Moses Ingram), who is on the trail of his longtime rival.

Jones, of course, invented the voice of Anakin Skywalker’s masked alter ego in the 1977s war of stars (aka Episode IV), then the same for Episodes V, VI, and IX, as well as animation rebels and in Rogue One: A Star Wars Story (including projects/theme park attractions).

Jones’ involvement in the Disney+ series was not a given as his casting had not yet been announced or He’s only acted sporadically at last month’s Star Wars Celebration Day for the last several years (most recently reprising his role as King Jaffe Joffer in Come 2 America), he’s 91 years old, and both Matt Sloan and Scott Lawrence are known for lending their whistles to Lord Vader on occasional Star Wars projects.

PhysicallyHayden Christensen is reprising his prequel trilogy role as Anakin/Darth for the Disney+ series, which premiered May 27.

“Bring Father back [is] obviously something you don’t want to take lightly, and you don’t want to do it just for the sake of it,” director Deborah Chow previously told TVLine. “When we really started to look at Obi-Wan’s life and say, ‘Who is important in his life? What influenced him in his past?’ so much of it connects to Anakin that it just felt very natural that it would be part of this series that we are emerging from in the story.”

Sets 10 years after the events of 2005 star wars: revenge of the sith, where Jedi were mass murdered under Order 66, Obi Wan Kenobi finds the Jedi Master on the run and protects a young Leia Organa while the Galactic Empire hunts down the remaining Jedi.
