Overnight pin-in with 18-wheel results in a dead

AUSTIN, Texas – A pin-in involving an SUV and an 18-wheeler resulted in one death and one injury on US 290 Highway late Saturday night.

At 11:46 p.m., the Austin-Travis County Emergency Medical Services (ATCEMS) received a call at Block 15000 of East US Highway 290 Eastbound regarding an 18 wheel pin-in. At the scene, medical staff reported a three-vehicle collision with a pin-in extrication underway.

At least two patients were involved, according to ATCEMS. Travis County Star Flight was called in around midnight to extricate the pinned patient with possible serious injuries and then transport him to a local hospital.

ATCEMS medics later obtained a death notice at the scene for the second patient involved in the crash. There are no further details about the patients or the crash.
