Overwatch 2 Season 7 is getting one hell of a crossover with Diablo 4

The next season of Overwatch 2, Rise of Darkness, launches on October 10th, bringing with it what looks like a crossover with Blizzard’s own Diablo IV just in time for Halloween.
A short teaser shows what looks like a Moira skin tailored after Diablo IV’s big bad, Lilith, as well as a spooky new version of the Blizzard world map and an updated version of Overwatch’s Halloween PvE event game mode Junkenstein’s Revenge. The mode is set to take place in the Tristram Cathedral portion of the Blizzard theme park-inspired map and features Diablo-like city portals for players to contend with.
Blizzard confirmed over the weekend during the Overwatch League 2023 grand finals that Season 7 will introduce a new map, Samoa. It hasn’t been revealed what else fans can expect in Season 7 of Overwatch 2, but leaks suggest that new Mythic skins for Hanzo and new Halloween skins for Widowmaker and Echo are also planned.
A Lilith skin in Overwatch 2 isn’t the first time Blizzard’s dark fantasy franchise has crossed over with its FPS. A number of other Diablo skins have been added over the years, including Demon Hunter Sombra, Butcher Roadhog, and Barbarian Zarya. Other Blizzard franchises are also represented in Overwatch 2, in the form of World of Warcraft-style skins for Doomfist and Torbjorn, as well as a StarCraft skin for Widowmaker.
Overwatch 2 isn’t even the only FPS developed by Activision Blizzard to get a Diablo crossover. Call of Duty: Modern Warfare II is rumored to be getting its own Diablo IV crossover later this month, introducing Lilith and the fallen angel Inarius as playable operators, complete with their own unique finishing moves.
Blizzard will unveil Overwatch 2’s new tank hero at BlizzCon 2023, marking the convention’s return as an in-person event for the first time since 2019. Blizzard veteran Chris Metzen, who recently returned to the company as full-time executive creative director, will reveal what’s next for World of Warcraft at the show. Further details are also being revealed about the future of Diablo IV, which will soon begin its second season titled “Season of Blood.”
