Patina Miller says things are blurry between Raq and Kanan

Book of Power III: Raise Kanan Set in the ’90s, it focuses on the teenage years of Kanan Stark (Curtis “50 Cent” Jackson in perfomance and Mekai Curtis there Kanan). Kanan has always been very close to his mother, Raquel “Raq” Thomas (Patina Miller). However, as he learned more about the drug lord’s empire, things became strained between the two.
Now, Miller says things are blurry between Raq and Kanan.

Raq will do whatever it takes to keep Kanan close in Power Book III: Raising Kanan.
Raq and Kanan have always had a close bond. However, upon learning more about his mother’s work and seeing her in action, Kanan has withdrawn from Raq. Things increasingly fell apart between the two when he learned that she had attacked his friend D-Wiz.
Now that Detective Howard (Omar Epps) has told Kanan that he is his father, Kanan doesn’t quite believe what Raq told him.
However, Raq is determined to keep her son by her side. “Raq will fight any means necessary to make sure her son is aligned with her,” she told PopSugar. “If she has to get him to be a soldier in the business and do all the things that she does, you’ll see her go through these different methods to get her son back.”

The lines between Raq and Kanan are blurred
In episode 206, Raq told Marvin that there is a distance between her and Kanan because of his age. “Kanan is at an age where he keeps to himself… He used to tell me everything, no secrets, now he just lets me guess,” she said. However, the truth is that Kanan is not sure if he can trust his mother.
“I think if he hadn’t played in the business that he wasn’t supposed to be in, we wouldn’t even have gotten to where we’ve gotten this season,” Miller told Express UK. “I think he’s really into what he’s doing and Raquels had to come along; She warned Kanan so much in the first half of the first season. So he has to see parts of his mother that he’s never seen before because she was able to be separate, but now there’s this weird blurry line.”
Things get pretty bad for Raq in Season 2 of Power Book III: Raising Kanan
Ever since Raq ordered Kanan to kill Detective Howard and now that Howard has told Kanan he’s his father – although Raq denies it, the teenager is trying to figure out some things for himself. However, putting ice on Raq like he does will leave them vulnerable.
Fans saw in episode 206 “It’s a Deal Man” that he turned to Howard when Famous (Anthony Ortiz) needed help and Raq refused to help. That’s the last thing Raq wants.
