Paul Simon has sold his Connecticut home for $3 million below the asking price

Singer-songwriter Paul Simon, along with longtime collaborator Art Garfunkel, helped define the music scene of the late ’60s. With a legendary career spanning six decades, Simon is still going strong at age 80. Over the years, the musician has amassed a considerable fortune thanks to his many successful songs and high-profile projects. However, when it came to selling his Connecticut estate, things didn’t go smoothly. And when Simon finally sold his house this summer, he accepted an offer well below his asking price.
Paul Simon is one of the most successful songwriters of all time

Born on October 13, 1941, in New Jersey, Paul Simon developed an affinity for music at an early age – a connection his parents maintained, reports Biography. When he was just 11 years old, Simon met Art Garfunkel. The two became friends and eventually began performing together. As Simon & Garfunkel, the duo made waves, releasing songs like “Mrs. Robinson” and “Bridge over Murky Water”.
Simon & Garfunkel split in 1970, and although the songwriting team reunited several times over the following decades, Simon embarked on a highly successful solo career. His biggest hits include “You Can Call Me Al” and “The Boy in the Bubble”. Praised for his brilliant twists and turns, Simon has won 16 Grammy Awards.
Often cited as one of the greatest songwriters of all time, Paul Simon is a cultural icon and a popular elder statesman in entertainment.
Paul Simon lost millions selling his Connecticut home
Paul Simon has owned several stately homes over the decades, but his Connecticut home is special. He and his wife Edie Brickell bought the home in 2002 for around $16.5 million. They launched it in 2019, but despite the home’s obvious charm and appeal, it wasn’t sold until July 2022. According to The Real Deal, the home was originally listed for $13.9 million. Simon reduced the asking price to $11.9 million after failing to find a buyer, but it was several years before the 32-acre estate was sold.
The Real Deal notes that the property ultimately sold for $10.8 million, meaning Simon suffered a multimillion-dollar loss. The beautiful home, built in 1938, has six bedrooms, eight bathrooms and a wealth of unique features including an antique stone fireplace. According to Town and Country, the property also features a pool, a terraced pond, and a detached cottage with a garage. The property is heaven for music fans – Simon worked on several albums while living there.
The other characteristics of the music legend
Though Paul Simon is likely thrilled to finally be selling his Connecticut estate, the music legend likely isn’t resting on his laurels. After all, he still owns several other residencies across the United States where he can spend time relaxing and recording. As reported by The Real Deal, Simon still owns a duplex on Manhattan’s Upper East Side, a beautiful oceanfront estate in Montauk, and a 10-acre property in Allen, Texas.
It’s certainly good to be Paul Simon. And despite suffering a loss at his Connecticut home, the musician probably isn’t sweating much. According to Wealthy Gorilla, Simon is worth an estimated $200 million.
