Paul Staehle’s troubled story with and without a 90 Day Fiancé

Paul Steels was a controversial cast member during his time on the series 90 Day Fiancé together with his wife Karine Martins for years. Karine recently posted a tribute to Paul on social media, noting that he has passed away. It came as a shock to fans, although it’s unclear if Paul actually passed away. The former cast member has appeared in multiple seasons, appearing in 90 Day Fiancé: Before The 90 Days, 90 Day Fiancé: The Other Way, and 90 Day Fiancé: Happily Ever After?.

Paul shared some beautiful moments with his family on the show. Yet many of its storylines were often marked by drama and mayhem. What’s more, Paul’s life has also been chaotic off-screen, with the former performer often making headlines for something bizarre.

Paul had a complicated criminal past

One thing that made Paul such a controversial star was his criminal past, which he revealed to Karine on screen. Paul explained that he had been arrested for arson and taken to prison. As a result, he stayed there for 18 months. Paul’s ex-girlfriend later filed for a restraining order against him, adding to his controversial past.

Karine was pregnant with her first son at the time. She expected Paul to arrive on time with several things she needed for the baby.

Unfortunately, Paul postponed his trip when he realized he couldn’t check all five bags, which prompted him to do so tear down At the airport. Paul delayed his visit to Karine by 30 days just because of the luggage problem. If Paul had done more research, he could have planned better to avoid the situation entirely. This was a common theme for Paul throughout the show, which often frustrated Karine as well.

Paul and Karine had a protracted custody battle

The most intense drama between Paul and Karine occurred off-screen, including their infamous custody battle over their two sons. Before Paul and Karine reconciled, the two had been separated for some time and Karine even had another boyfriend at times. During this time, the dynamic between Paul and Karine became incredibly toxic, as the two frequently sought restraining orders against one another.

After so much back and forth, Paul and Karine’s two sons were eventually placed in foster care, although neither parent was considered fit. The controversial couple then began a lengthy process to regain custody, including taking a racquet class. While Paul and Karine eventually reconciled in April 2023, the pair still failed to regain sole custody of their children.

Paul was in a relationship with an 18-year-old woman after his split from Karine

One of the most controversial moments for Paul came after one of his many breakups with Karine when he was rumored to be dating several teenage girls. Paul was originally pictured on social media with a 17-year-old girl, who viewers were quick to assume was his new girlfriend. However, Paul later revealed that his girlfriend was actually 18 years old and was quick to take to social media to show off new pictures with her.

Given that Paul was in his late 30s at the time, many fans found this incredibly unsettling. Paul’s former girlfriend even rumored she was pregnant when he posted a picture of him grabbing her stomach. This romance didn’t last long, however, and Paul later reunited with Karine.

Although Paul is a controversial character from the 90 Day Fiancé franchise, for the sake of his family, we hope the rumors of his death are just rumours.
