Peter Barlow struggles in Coronation Street after Stephen’s death

BAD memories haunt Peter Barlow weeks after the death of serial killer Stephen Reid.
The Coronation Street legend, played by Chris Gascoyne, is struggling to cope and a chilly Carla Connor makes things worse.
As regular ITV viewers will recall, Peter mowed down Stephen Reid with his car in the final scenes of the Manchester-set drama after seeing him holding Jenny Connor hostage on the open cobbles.
The Rovers’ former landlady was threatened by the criminal, who desperately tried to leave Weatherfield in a final attempt to escape justice.
Peter was charged with murder and faced a devastating payout until authorities surprisingly decided to drop the charges
But despite everything, Peter’s struggle continues next week when his wife Carla (played by Alison King) returns home from an unsuccessful business trip to Spain.
Upon her return, it becomes clear that she is still cold towards Peter, but she still has a lot of work to do as she tries to save the Underworld factory.
Sarah Platt (Tina O’Brien) feels guilty knowing that it was Stephen who ruined her reputation with his dastardly actions.
But the tension rises when Carla finds out that her PA Michael Bailey (Ryan Russell) has been given his job back despite helping Stephen Reid fleece the company of all its funds.
Despite Carla’s disapproval, Sarah sticks to her guns and points out that this isn’t Michael’s fault.
Michael reveals he’s working on some new designs, but Carla is dismissive.
However, when a potential new client shows up for a meeting, Carla frantically orders Michael to get his portfolio.
Will they seal the deal?
While that remains to be seen, a worried Ken Barlow (William Roache) confides in Carla that he fears Peter might drink again.
This prompts them to look around the apartment for evidence they need to confirm Peter’s relapse.
When Carla discovers that a bottle of whiskey she had bought was missing, she becomes concerned for her husband and his health.
How will Peter react when confronted with the discovery?
