TVLine has an exclusive first look at Hulu’s return How I met your mother Spin-off kicking off its outsized 20-episode second run on Tuesday, January 24th. Photo shows Hilary Duff’s Sophie, soaking wet, taking a phone call while hunched over an inflatable pool. But why you ask? Well, here’s what we can reveal…

In the episode in question, titled “Midwifery Crisis,” which will be released on January 31, aspiring photographer Sophie awaits an important call from Naomi Reisberg’s gallery to find out whether or not she’s sold her first portrait. (Can this be the call??) Meanwhile, she lands a gig she lied to and asks Val for help.

How I Met Your Father Season 2

First launched in January, HIMYF takes place eight years after the events of HIMYM finale and focuses on a new friend group made up of Sophie (Duff), Jesse (GLOW‘s Chris Lowell), Val (grown up‘s Francia Raisa), Charlie (The Royal‘ Tom Ainsley), Ellen (space forces‘s Tien Tran) and Sid (god made me friends‘s Surai Sharma). The story is told from the perspective of Sophie in her fifties (played by Sex and the Cityby Kim Cattrall). Daniel Augustine (Rap Sh!t), Ashley Reyes (walker) and Josh Peck (Drake & Josh) all return.

Season 1 joined original series star Cobie Smulders (reprising her role as Robin Scherbatsky) and recurring guest stars Kyle MacLachlan (as George Van Smoot, aka The Captain), Laura Bell Bundy (as “Boats! Boats! Boats!” Becky ) on ) and Joe Nieves (as Carl the Bartender). It is not yet known if more alumni will appear in Season 2.
