PlayStation surprised everyone by introducing the very first PC exclusive when it was ported Horizon Zero Dawn. Since then, a large number of titles have made it to PC, including ones like Days Gone, God of War and the Uncharted Collection. While it’s unlikely that new games will be launched as soon as they are released for PC, PlayStation seems eager to deliver more titles for PC.

PlayStation Network Launcher could be coming to PC: report

In a new job posting, Sony is looking for a Director, Product Management – PC Game Experiences.

This role will be asked to provide leadership of the overall PC gaming experience for PlayStation, including leadership and responsibility for implementation and delivery to our players worldwide.

Lead and develop the PlayStation gaming experience roadmap for all gaming-related experiences, including SDK development, client application experiences and PlayStation network platform integration

The most notable part of the job description is the second paragraph, which states that the person will be responsible for “customer application experiences as an integration of the PlayStation network platform”. This probably indicates that PlayStation wants to develop a launcher for PC.

It should be noted that a job posting last year suggested something similar, where Sony was looking for a UX Design Manager to drive its “PlayStation off-console experience with a focus on mobile, PC/laptop and tablet”. At the same time, PlayStation has been actively looking for people to design game activities such as trophies.

When it comes to PC gamers, this news should be mixed. There are already tons of launchers on PC and the last thing you want is another launcher for games. But considering that Steam has a pretty big cut for games released there, Sony would look to maximize its profits with its own launcher. PlayStation Network Launcher could be coming to PC: report
