Polk County barricade situation ends with suspect having medical problems, lawmakers say

POLK COUNTY, Fla. (WFLA) — A barricade situation ended Friday night in the Fort Meade area of ​​Polk County and the suspect was determined to have a medical issue, according to the Polk County Sheriff’s Office.

According to officers, a gunman was barricaded in a home on the North Charleston Avenue and 8th Street Northeast area.

Officials said there was a scuffle between three men inside the house around 4 p.m., leading to the barricade situation. The other two men were able to leave the house and were unharmed.

The man was taken to a hospital with no evidence of trauma or injury and a search warrant will be issued for the home, officials said.
