A North Carolina preschool teacher reportedly used LGBTQ+ flashcards to teach children colors. FoxNews has called. According to the report, one of the cards contained a photo of a pregnant man.
what are the details
North Carolina House of Representatives Speaker Tim Moore (R) released the findings on his websitewhere he wrote that the flashcards appeared at Ballentine Elementary School in Wake County, North Carolina.
Republican state Rep. Erin Paré — who said she received a photo of the index cards from one of her constituents — blasted the move, saying public schools should only use “age-appropriate materials.”
“[T]These flashcards clearly don’t meet that standard for a preschool classroom,” Paré said.
According to the report, Paré contacted the school to verify the authenticity of the photos and was told the school’s principal would “act quickly” to investigate their provenance. Upon investigation, according to Moore’s website, the administrator found the flashcards in the unnamed teacher’s classroom.
“The principal confirmed that the flashcards were not part of the approved curriculum and that she was not aware they were being used,” Moore’s website added. “The Headmistress immediately took possession of the cards, contacted the Superintendent of the WCPSS area and contacted Human Resources.
In a further statement on the incident, Paré said: “I am grateful that a concerned constituent has come forward and that this issue is being addressed quickly and professionally by Ballentine Elementary School.”
“Schools should only use age-appropriate materials, and these flashcards clearly don’t meet that standard for a preschool classroom. I hope schools in Wake County and the state of North Carolina will follow Ballentine’s lead in responding quickly when a parent raises a concern and ensuring that such materials are not used to teach young students,” she added.
