Primary race between Oz, McCormick looks like he should be recounted as Trump Fumes

Since the first race in Pennsylvania was between Republican Senate hopefuls Dr. Mehmet Oz and David McCormick, heading for a likely automatic recount, former President Donald Trump railed against voter fraud on Truth Social, calling the voting system “a complete disaster.”

Oz, the Trump-backed celebrity surgeon, leads former hedge fund manager McCormick by about 1,100 votes on Saturday, according to CBS Philly, with nearly 99 percent of the vote counted. Oz led by 418,535 votes late in the afternoon, compared to McCormick’s 417,465 votes.

In Pennsylvania, according to Ballotpedia, an automatic recount is required “when the margin for a statewide office or electoral measure is less than or equal to 0.5% of the total votes.”

The former president took to his social media platform on Saturday, as he has done for days, to voice his grievances about the electoral process and to call for postal voting to end.

“Why does it take so long to close like it did in Pennsylvania – now 5 days. Must EXIT mail-in ballot and go to VOTE SAME DAY,” Trump wrote. “Besides, the ballot papers and our problems are solved. We’re laughed at all over the world (for many reasons, actually!).”

Trump has fueled allegations of voter fraud since Wednesday, when he asked Oz to call victory early.

“Dr. Oz should declare victory,” Trump wrote on Wednesday. “It makes it much harder for them to cheat with the ballots they ‘found by accident’.”

In a similar post on Friday, Trump compared the US to Venezuela.

“Can you imagine that? The Pennsylvania primary ended almost 5 days ago, with weeks of early voting on possible fake and other mail-in ballots, and we still have no idea what’s happening or when it will all end,” he said in the Post. “France counted millions of ballots on its election day, no problem! It’s all strictly Third World, and that’s what our country is becoming with open borders, rigged elections, rampant inflation and energy inferiority. We’re going to become a large-scale version of Venezuela!!!”

Trump’s posts also show his displeasure with the time it takes to count votes in Pennsylvania, where by law ballots cannot be processed before Election Day, slowing counting.

“The Pennsylvania Oz race is ridiculous. How long does it take to count the votes. France had all newspapers VERIFIED numbers in the evening the same day,” Trump wrote on Thursday. “The US is a laughing stock in elections. STOP FINDING VOICES in PENNSYLVANIA! MANIPULATED?”

Trump’s post on Saturday included a jab at the Wall Street Journal Editors who published an editorial on Friday titled “Welcome to Stop the Steal, Pennsylvania Primary Edition” and criticized his efforts to belittle the process.

“Why not The Wall Street Journal The editorial board has realized what a complete disaster our electoral system is,” Trump wrote. “Come on WSJ, put your RINO hate on me and do something right (for once!). Our country is going to HELL!!!
