Project Gorgon’s Q&A gives a cancer update and shares why a Weather Magic skill line was killed

Treat.

A recent town hall Q&A over at Project Gorgon began with a somber but upbeat update on lead developer Sandra Powers and her ongoing battle with cancer. Powers said she is in the middle of chemotherapy but is feeling better overall.

“I spend a third of my normal working hours sleeping and another third in the waiting room, which is really frustrating,” she said. “I have shit to do you know! But overall I’m fine. And oddly enough, now that we know what’s going on and some of my symptoms are finally being treated properly, I feel better than I have in a while.”

The rest of the questions and answers focused on various topics relevant to the Project Gorgon communities, such as B. Breeding (pipe to the back, there), focused vs. hybrid builds, breeds for starter races, breed switching, and group size.

The small development team also talked about future ideas, like a Vampire skill line, the upcoming Orc race, and the Kurgebirge art overhaul. It also revealed why a Weather Witching skill was nixed: “This is why Weather Witching died: My inspiration for the skill was dynamic weather. But it’s too graphics intensive. We can’t even have dynamic rain without improving the performance of our lowest tier players. And adding truly localized weather phenomena didn’t pay off. Some features just don’t make it, and Weather Witching suffered that fate.”
