Rangers have had a better season than Celtic – even if they lose Europa League final, pundit claims

The former Tottenham midfielder-turned-talkSPORT presenter insists Rangers reach a European final higher than Celtic’s performance in winning the Scottish title, despite doing so in their first season under Ange Postecoglou after being defeated in trailed 25 points last season.

O’Hara has also backed Rangers to beat Eintracht Frankfurt on Wednesday night but insists they will still have a lead over their Glasgow rivals this season even if they leave Sevilla empty-handed.

When asked which side had the better campaign, O’Hara told Open Goal with Grosvenor Sport: “Rangers 100%, absolutely 100%. It’s a Europa League final, it’s an incredible achievement. When was the last time Celtic did that!?

“Even if they don’t win it, they still had a better season than Celtic.

“To reach a Europa League final after beating Dortmund and Leipzig. The budget, the squad – that’s an unbelievable achievement.

“Celtic has won the title 52 times. Who cares? It’s not like you’ve never done it before. Postecoglou did a good job.

“When they got to the 2008 final, they had a little money and they splashed the money. Now they did it on a budget.

“If they win it, it would just be ridiculous. I think they will turn around Frankfurt. They beat Dortmund and Leipzig, who are better than them.

“Frankfurt are a good away team. A game in a final? I think you will see a different team.”
