The 29-year-old has not played for Rangers since beating Celtic in the Scottish Cup semi-finals last month after suffering a knee injury. He has since been treated and turned to using hyperbaric chambers to speed up his recovery.
While Roofe was not included in the squad against Hearts at the weekend, he was pictured on the club’s flight to Seville and his manager Giovanni van Bronckhorst has confirmed the Jamaican will be available for selection.
“Kemar Roofe is available,” Van Bronckhorst said in his pre-match press briefing. “He trained for the first time on Monday. He will also train and be in the squad on Tuesday.
“Kemar is a boost for us, he’s important and I’m happy for him as he’s worked hard on his return. He’s there and ready to play a role.”
Roofe’s return gives Rangers an additional option in attack as their main forward Alfredo Morelos is out with a hamstring injury.
Van Bronckhorst has had the services of Zambian Fashion Sakala as a substitute in recent weeks, while attacking midfielders Joe Aribo and Ryan Kent also filled in the gaps as false nines.
The Dutchman now has to decide whether to use Roofe from the start or replace him later in the game.
